Mientras muchos dueños de negocios asumen que manejar dinero en efectivo es una parte necesaria de sus operaciones y que los errores asociados con el uso de efectivo son inherentes a esa actividad, es importante resaltar que el orden administrativo y los avances tecnológicos mejoran significativamente la manera como hacemos negocios; por ello es indispensable mantenerse actualizado para poder ser competitivo y rentable en mercados que cambian rápidamente.

¿Sabías que la gestión de divisas en efectivo te puede estar costando dinero?

Para comenzar debemos considerar que manejar dinero en efectivo tiene costos asociados y, sin duda, para cubrir esos costos deberás usar dinero de tu negocio. La ausencia de controles internos, no poseer procedimientos estrictos de verificación del efectivo, el desorden en el lugar de trabajo y la falta de entrenamiento adecuado a tus trabajadores convierte en pérdidas esos costos asociados al manejo del dinero. La buena noticia es que hay una variedad de acciones que puedes tomar para detener estas pérdidas innecesarias. Tienes la responsabilidad de entrenar a tus trabajadores en el manejo correcto del efectivo de manera que puedan comprender todos los aspectos del proceso de gestión de efectivo, con especial atención al uso de monedas extranjeras si ese es el caso de tu negocio. Esto disminuirá el riesgo de errores y también le hará saber a tu equipo que estás comprometido en la gestión del negocio y que estás haciendo monitoreo real del efectivo.

Por supuesto que para confiar el manejo del efectivo, especialmente en divisas, a tus trabajadores es importante que cuentes con un equipo identificado con el negocio, entrenado y remunerado adecuadamente, así reduces también los riesgos de pérdida, hurto o robo de las piezas monetarias.

Uso de divisas en efectivo y organización del negocio

Es importante tanto la organización física del negocio, como la organización administrativa. Es importante destinar un espacio seguro, organizado, limpio y bien iluminado para el manejo de las divisas en efectivo, invertir en máquinas contadoras de billetes y también en máquinas para detectar billetes falsos, no te fíes únicamente de lápices para detectar la legitimidad de los billetes.

Recuerda que la gerencia  y propietarios de cada negocio son responsables del desarrollo e implementación de políticas, procedimientos y sistemas para salvaguardar los activos de la entidad, asegurar que se dispone de datos precisos para la contabilidad y prevenir, detectar y corregir errores o fraudes en las operaciones.
